## General rules

We follow this three-step approach when creating our updates. They explain what’s new, its purpose and benefit to users, and a possible further action. Although not every dialog requires all three steps, we aim for this whenever possible.

| Step | Purpose | Content | Structure and examples |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1. | Heading | Clearly state aim and purpose for the dialog, such as the theme, date, feature or version. | **Heading**: What’s new + topic:What’s new in Version 2.5What’s new in OctoberWhat’s new for 2025What’s new in dashboards |
| 2. | Description | Provide its purpose and benefits with information about key features. | **Description**: Receive instant notifications for critical events and system updates to stay informed and respond quickly to important changes. |
| 3. | Action | Provide links or buttons to more detailed information (usually with a verb). | **Action**: Learn more |

Use the wording “What’s new…” for the heading without a question mark (?) or period.

## Dos and Don’ts

Do allow users to close, postpone or choose to not see the content again

Don’t add so much content that users need to scroll, instead use pages or split news
Don’t embed critical text in images as it’s hard to translate and read
Don’t add time-critical actions only in announcements as they are too easy to close
